Gaining more flexibility and understanding it from an intellectual level is really going to give you actual tools you can apply to whatever movement you may be processing. Flexibility isn't just about being good at yoga... you've always got a body so you'll always require it, irrespective of whether it's getting in and out of your chair or you are trying to get a high heel on a route you've been working.
